Tenkuu no Escaflowne is an 26 episode long anime, a 6 novel long manga, movie, and cd drama that combines both the elements of shonen and shojo genres. The story centralizes around Hitomi Kanzaki who seems to be your typical hich school student. She has a crush she can't really talk to, and seems as though the world is out to get her. Cares nothing of the world she lives in and wishes nothing more than to just "vanish". Her prayers are heard and she is transported into an alternat world called "Gaea". Here she finds herself in the middle of a war waging against the surrounding countries and the Zaibach Empire. She finds new friends such as Van, Allen, and Merle. At the same time as being a visionary of the future she finds her heart in a tug of war and starts feeling things she never has.
